General
Bali is one of the busiest tourist islands in the world and is fast becoming the International Surf Capital of the world. Balis tourist trade has bounced back after the Bali bomb and the Island is a melting pot of cultures and people. The cheap cost of living and tropical climate combined with some of the best surf in the world make Bali an ideal place for a surf trip. Unfortuately many others think so as well. Bali has many direct flights from International Airlines however it is also very easy to get to from Asian hubs such as Malysia and Singapore which can have more flight options and is often cheaper.
The Surf
Balis surf is among the best and most consisent on the planet. Regular swells march out of the roaring forties and as Bali has such a long fetch most of the swells have a large period and are therefore really clean and well groomed. The Bucket Pinenseluia is the most famous area for waves and on the west coast has a series of lefthanders which are world class and world famous. They are mostly coral bottomed and crowded so it is best for experienced surfers. The Kuta area has beach breaks which are more suited to less experienced surfers and to the North there are breaks such as Medewii which arent as powerful or crowded.
The Seasons/climate/watertemp
The trade winds blow offshore on the west coast in the dry season from April to October. In the wet season it is possible to surf the west coast on no wind days but the east coast is often better. The weather is a pretty constant 30 degrees and the water temp is always warm enough for boardshorts.
