General
Brazil is a country famous for its beach culture and surfing is hugely popular. Brazil is known for its beach breaks and sand points and not world class reefs. The surf scene is huge especially in urban areas such as Rio but also up and down its coast. The beach scene combined with mild climate and gorgeous beaches make Brazil a great place for a surf trip for surfers of all standards. For many surfers the nightlife is as important as the waves. The surf is often fairly hectic at renowned surf breaks but Brazil has a huge coastline so exploration is possible. Brazil can be a dangerous country so it is best to have your wits about you especially at night.
The surf
Brazil is known for its beach breaks and sand points and not world class reefs. The surf is often perfect for beginners and intermediates however it can get big swells occasionally. The Brazilian surf at times can be weak for experienced surfers but can produce shorebreaks which give more than enough punch for intermediate and beginners.
The climate/surf season
The summer is pretty much board shorts year round, spots to the south need 3/2s in the winter months from July to August
