There are just a few random tips here but this section will grow with your help so send in some to traveltips@surfbreaks.ie

- even a little Portugese goes a long way so get a phrase book

-The algarve has a north and south coast so make sure you check out both for swell and wind options.

-Even though a 3/2 or shorty is need most of the time boardshorts are well doable in the mid day sun

-The waves in the algarve may not be world class but they are super consistent and there are many semi secret spots which are easy to find

-The seafood restaurants are really good and are a must before you leave

-Book hire cars online as it is cheaper than turning up at the office in the airport

-Beware boogyboarders are often more vocal than local surfers so dont drop in no matter what your opinions.

-Normal small wave boards will do but if you are keen there is a few massive rights that break in winter that may require a gun.
